If you’re looking at a bird with a long neck, broad bill, large body, and webbed feet and don’t know what it is, you might be looking at a Canada goose. These animals usually have black necks and heads, while their back is brown and their breast is tan.
A typical Canadian goose is 29.9-43.3 in (76-110 cm) and 105.8-317.5 oz (3000-9000 g) respectively in length and weight. They live for 10-24 years and you’ll find them making natural sceneries more beautiful. As their name suggests, Canadian geese are native to Canada, but you can find them in the northern United States as well.
These birds are hardly found alone. They usually fly in pairs or their flocks form a V shape while flying. You might find some insects and fish occasionally in a goose’s diet, but they mostly graze the fields and dabble the waters to find some grains or greens to eat.
Canada geese spend the second year of their lives finding a partner whom they will spend the rest of their lives with. The female lays 5 eggs on average and they both protect the nest to let the life cycle continue.
