Muscovy duck

Though his outline looks like a duck, the strange-looking Muscovy duck may not remind you of a duck at first glance. These birds have glossy black bodies with white breasts. Their wings may be an exotic green or blue.

It’s not that difficult to recognize a Muscovy duck. All you have to do is look for their size and check their faces. If they’re large and have a long neck and red, warty facial skin, chances are you’re looking at Muscovy ducks.

Muscovy duck belongs to the Americas. You can find them from the Rio Grande Valley of Texas and Mexico south to Argentina and Uruguay. You may also find domesticated versions of them in local parks and farms.

These ducks love to reside in the forest and choose a tree cavity to build their nest in. The male and female Muscovy ducks have a huge difference. While the male is considered the largest duck in North America, the female is only half his size. They often live in pairs, but they’re not monogamous. Muscovy ducks may choose multiple mates.

They’re also not very picky when it comes to food. They may eat anything from plants to small insects.
