Snowy owl

You may call them Hedwig from the Harry Potter franchise, but not all Snowy owls are Hedwig. These owls are one of the most magnificent and charming creatures in the world. As their name suggests, Snowy owls have an almost entirely snowy white body with brown markings appearing randomly on their body.

Their most remarkable feature is their piercing bright yellow eyes. You may find snowy owls anywhere from shorelines of oceans and lakes to airport lands and agricultural fields camouflaging in the spirit of winter. Snowy owls are not a big fan of heights. You’ll find them mostly close to the ground while flying. They also usually perch on short structures such as telephone poles and fence posts.

Snowy owls are about the size of a crow with 20.5-27.9 in (52-71 cm) in length and 56.4-104.1 oz (1600-2950 g) weight. These owls live for 10 years and start looking for a mate when they finish their second birthday.

Snowy owls consider a variety of food sources as their diet. Their diet mostly includes lemmings and small mammals and birds. You can find these birds anywhere in the North merging with the snow.
